DIARY OF A SUPPOSED-TO-BE-BALLING-AFRIKAN-GIRL
XOXO. AFRIKANGIRLS DIARY... as i remember it
Dear Afrikan Girl,
Since My blog is new, I am trying to backdate my personal journal to as far back as I remember... Thank The Lord for social media posts, text messages, emails and what not...
Well this is what I remember!

It was 9am that sort-of-sunny Wednesday morning when my when the short hasting robot sounds from my blinged-up Iphone woke me up from a sexy dream, that I would rather not go into...
IPHONE CASE. A gift from my cousin Brittany. Available for 30 Bucks at Polyvore
That sort of Despicable me minion- bleating sound indicated that it was a Whatsapp Message...
At that time of the morning, (not that 9am is early, but folks, sometimes I sleep at 7.30AM) it could only be one of five people who could have texted me... my Naija- bestie-turned-sis Jubi, a group chat with includes my mum, and brothers Serge and Glenn, or an international message (which I get quite a few of)...
SUBSCRIBE TO WHATSAPP
I wanted to ignore it, but the bleating was so persistent, that if there was an iphone god, I would have cursed it, for making me choose the most annoying ringtone in the world: The Iphone Robot Ringtone. Its so Annoying that, I added the video below, so you can feel my pain.
So, I lazily, rolled my recently skinnier body to the left side of my Queen bed , feeling for my phone.
It was not long before I recoiled lest the strong rays of the sun rays burn my already myopic eyes...
AND then maybe I would cast be on that show..
Catch my JOKE?
Probably not. Come to think about it, I don't think it is the type of show that most Afrikan girls under 30 watch... We are more likely to see Orange is the New Black, Scandal, How To Get Away with Murder and all that gory dramatic goodness.
***
I suddenly remembered that it was a big day for us, because today, Cameroon was playing with Croatia, at the World Cup Games, in Manaus. My parents were actually there, watching and enjoying some couple time. (I'll tell you that story later)
OKAY THE STORY CONTINUES...
****
Next time I derail, hit me in the head... #JK
So the text was from one of Cameroon's favorite artists, recent MAMA winner for Best New Act in 2014.
The Bayangi guy with eyes we never see, and a well defined hat with the message #StanleyEnow on it... #branding101 Read below
'I have a new song called Slippery When WET with Nyanda,'
was the main message from the conversation...
He also added that I was the first to listen to it...
Feeling honored, I obviously clicked on it, and danced to it, as I
jumped out of bed, shaking my not-so-small waist and cleaning my room.
I also listened to it, when I got dressed in my Cameroonian jersey, and texted some of my friends to brag about how good the match would be... (That is another story)*
Luckily , it was actually a nice song... Of course, what else could we really expect from him? The Best...
ABOUT THE SONG
After dancing to the song for a little bit, I still couldn't get all of the lyrics... Of course Jamaican Patois is not exactly the easiest dialect to understand...
BUT
I did catch the following things:
1. Stanley Enow must love a lot of Cangwa or limestone.
[We use it for several purposes in Cameroon.]
3. Stanley says at some point 'Bayangi Boy Don Enter', which means that it is now Bayangi boy's (his) part in the song. [This is pidgin English]
Think of this song like the type of song that you want to slow dance to with a guy you really like in a dark club... You know where y'all go...
Well, I loved the song so much that I had to add a link here for you ;)

good news
tHE Great news is...
Stanley won MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) as Africa's Best New Act in 2014
He won the award! It was the most amazing thing.... So Proud of him!!!
A few months ago, we all did a strong social media campaign headed by fashion blogger, and my personal stlist muke Alison to help promote our cameroonian rapper, who happened to be the first cameroonian artist to be nominated for this award. He actually won, making us so proud!
