#TBT : Dear Afrikan Girl...MARIMAR

Dear Afrikan Girl,

Who remembers this? OMG....

*Americans, na wuna know....

Calling Spanish shows dramatic... but those were my chlild hood memories! Those ''novellas'' or ''soap operas'' kept us alive when we were children...

EVEN IF it meant, listening to the translated versions, where the sound was not properly synced, and the person was still talking when the actor had stopped...

Even if it meant this song:

was sung like this. by most of us:  I mean Butchering of Lyrics like no man's business....

Those dramatic hair spins... those perfectly shaped bodies... the hair... the sexy Latino men... the unending story lines,

wicked step mothers, children switched at birth, dramatic story turns where some one was a pauper, a suddenly a millionaire, because her father wasn't really her father, and her mother had cheated with this wealthy rich man,

who happened to employ his daughter years later, and have her maltreated by his new step wife, and fall in love with his son, who wasn't really his son, because the step wife cheated...

hahaha. I LOVE IT!!

I mean who hasn't seen this story line?  ABEG FOGERRIT (Forget it).

When Marimar was on, I was 6 or 7 years old!

My brothers and I used to be like...

And you know, You had to do your home work if you wanted any hope of watching Marimar...

If you heard the sound, when you were still working, you were like...

AND YOU KNOW your African parents weren't gonna let you watch it, when homework wasn't done... so it was pretty much...

When Marimar was on, enemies were friends again...Every one was equal... fathers mothers, children... I mean some one even  fell in the well, running to catch the show... all for this chick! does she even know?

And OMG the Marimar merchandize... hahahhaa. If you didn't have a Marimar pair of flip flops, or T-shirt,s na you be know ooo.. no body go drink water.. Abeg. leave us

BELLA ALDAMA PEREZ!!! Sister, chop with a big spoon!

OMG. The predictions!!! Marimar turned us into fortune tellers....

''Nah, in the episode, Sergio will die''
'' How can he die when she is his love interest''
''I am telling you, I know this thing''
''Haha. are you a soothesayer''?

THEN GBAM! Na so fight don start...PROBLEM... over a show that had nothing to do with us...

GOOD TIMES!

And does any one remember the steamy love story with Sergio Santibaniez??? (My brother s name is Serge BTW) Hahaha. And this show earned him the nick name Sergio, till this day...

EH NEMO.. (Shout out to him. Follow him @sergefondufe

Aww, Sergio, see your jaws..

BUT BACK TO BUSINESS....

Because of shows like Marimar, We just fell in love with Spanish men... oooo.. how romantic they were......

AND who remembers ROSA SALVAJE?

Not to lie... these videos are bringing tears to my eyes... because when I was a child, I wanted to be on TV so bad. Watching these, just inspired me...
AND

STORY... (Courtesy of WIKI)

Marimar is a poor young innocent girl who lives with her grandparents in a hut on the beach by the ocean. She falls in love with Sergio, the son of wealthy farmer Renato Santibáñez. Sergio agrees to marry Marimar despite the disapproval of his father and stepmother, Angélica, but along the way he falls deeply in love with her.
Angélica despises Marimar because of her innocence and her lack of knowledge of the world of high society. Angélica constantly embarrasses Marimar, often diminishing her worth as an individual. Sergio becomes angry and decides to go away and earn money so he can take Marimar away from her father's house, and safe from Angélica's wrath. Angélica tells the police that Marimar stole a bracelet from her, and Marimar is sent to prison. Then Angélica sends one of her servants, Nicandro, to set fire on the humble hut belonging to Marimar's grandparents, which results in their deaths. Angélica forges Sergio's handwriting and writes a fake letter to Marimar stating that he wants nothing more to do with her and that he never loved her. All this, along with the impact of her grandparents’ deaths, changes Marimar and sets her on the road to revenge.
After leaving prison, Marimar then moves from her hometown to Mexico City with Padre Torrez and works to get back on track. While on the road, she meets her biological father, Gustavo Aldama, without either him or her knowing of their relationship. He teaches her how to read, write, to speak eloquently, and to dress elegantly. She finds out she is pregnant, later gives birth to a daughter, Cruz.
After the new, improved Marimar is ready to face society, Gustavo decides to take her to the opera, where she bumps into Sergio, and Marimar's plan for revenge begins. Fueled by anger, Marimar (assuming the identity of "Bella Aldama" and denying to Sergio and other people that she is Marimar) seduces Sergio constantly and then rejects his advances to hurt him, and at the same time strips Renato and Angélica of their wealth. Marimar buys out the Santibáñez house and embarrasses Angélica the way she had embarrassed Marimar before. As Sergio divorces Marimar and gets ready to marry his childhood friend Inocencia, Marimar plans on breaking them up. Secretly, Sergio is still in love with Marimar.
Angélica then gets into a car accident and suffers severe burns. While on her deathbed, as her last wish, she wants Marimar burned alive in her house. Innocencia finds out that Sergio has been visiting Marimar and even tried to go to Marimar's house. The pregnant Innocencia falls and taken to the hospital, where she has her baby and is subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Marimar decides to forget about Sergio by falling in love with another man who is an engineer. Innocencia then has brain surgery and, ashamed of all she has done, allows Marimar to eventually marry Sergio. They finally marry and live happily ever after.
